SOILWORK Announces ‘The Panic Broadcast’ Public Listening Party

Soilwork - The Panic Broadcast

Soilwork - The Panic Broadcast

Swedish modern metallers SOILWORK will hold a public listening party for their new album, “The Panic Broadcast”, on Friday June 4 at The Mountain Bar, located in the Chinatown section of Los Angeles, California.

“With the release date now only seven weeks away, we can hardly contain our excitement about the new SOILWORK record,” the band said in a statement. “Which is why we’ve decided to give our West Coast fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to come out and discover ‘The Panic Broadcast’ in its entirety! We wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of our loyal fans worldwide, and we see it as our duty to give back whenever we can. ‘The Panic Broadcast’ was written for all of you and we’re extremely stoked to share it with you!”

Date: Friday June 4, 2010
Age: 21+
Time: 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Location: The Mountain Bar, 473 Gin Ling Way, Los Angeles, CA 90012 (www.themountainbar.com)

“The Panic Broadcast” will be released in Europe on July 2 and in North America on July 13 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed atFascination Street studio in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren (OPETH,KATATONIAPARADISE LOSTBLOODBATH).

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Late For The Kill, Early For The Slaughter
02. Two Lives Worth Of Reckoning
03. The Thrill
04. Deliverance Is Mine
05. Night Comes Clean
06. King Of The Threshold
07. Let This River Flow
08. Epitome
09. The Akuma Afterglow
10. Enter Dog Of Pavlov

The song “Two Lives Worth Of Reckoning” is now available for streaming at this location.

SOILWORK‘s new album is the first to feature guitarist Peter Wicherssince his return to the band in 2008, as well as the studio debut with axeman Sylvain Coudret, who also joined in 2008.

The recording process for “The Panic Broadcast” was overseen byWichers, who recently took a moment to talk about what it was like to produce his own band after working with so many other great artists.

“Producing SOILWORK was great challenge for me but also one of the greatest experiences of my career,” he said. “I can honestly say that I’ve never worked this hard on any record that I’ve produced, but it was all worth it. I am super-happy with the performances from all the guys, and I don’t think SOILWORK has ever sounded this good.

“My approach for this record was to try and keep an open mind to the overall sonic picture without letting my own ego take over (I am a guitar player after all, haha). By doing so, I think everyone on this record got a chance to shine, and that was my main goal.

“I’m super-proud of this record and I know that even if you’re an ‘old-school’ or ‘new’ listener to SOILWORK, this album has something for both. There are some insane fast and furious songs with insane blast beats, as well as groove. There’s also a balance with songs that have some beautiful guitars/vocals and keyboard melodies.

“This is the best album SOILWORK has ever done!”

The cover artwork for “The Panic Broadcast” can be viewed below.

Commented SOILWORK vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid: “With the artwork for this album we wanted to capture the illusion of the mind, misconceptions and the state of panic. Bartosz Nalezinski has made a perfect job realizing this idea.

“The cover symbolizes the emperor of the illusion with two servants to assist the misconception. The background illustrates the abstract chaos that slowly takes over. Inside the booklet you can follow the psychological journey that brings you ‘The Panic Broadcast’.”

ICED EARTH Announces Select Dates In North America

Iced Earth

Iced Earth

ICED EARTH has confirmed four North American tour dates for the fall. Meant as an “escape from the studio,” these exclusive shows will also get fans the chance to see ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman Jon Schaffer‘s new project SONS OF LIBERTY on stage for their first-ever live performances.

Sep. 21 – Chicago, IL – House of Blues
Sep. 23 – New York, NY – Nokia Theater Times Square
Sep. 25 – West Hollywood, CA – House of Blues

Commented Schaffer: “It has been too long since we played North America and after the South American shows we felt we should bring a ‘greatest hits’-set to our loyal fans in the U.S. “I am also very much looking forward to introducing SONS OF LIBERTY to the Minions.”

For the dates listed below, ICED EARTH will be offering a very limited number of fans the opportunity to attend the show as the band’s guest VIPs.

Fans who purchase a VIP package with IcedEarth.com will receive the following:

While ICED EARTH‘s 1998 album “Something Wicked This Way Comes” provided a general overview of the story guitarist/songwriterJon Schaffer has been conceptualizing for well over a decade, the saga was fully brought to life with the release of the back-to-back conceptual albums “Framing Armageddon” and “The Crucible of Man”. The albums provided answers to mysteries the previous releases created, and the timeliness of the story in today’s world were guaranteed to keep people thinking and guessing. Schaffer‘s ability to convey the central themes and events of the story without always revealing exactly “why” characters’ decisions are made and “how” events come to pass will keep fans of the saga coming back as future mediums for the “Something Wicked” storyline are revealed.

The whole saga is now included in this high-quality hardcover boxset (height 13 cm, depth 4.5 cm, width 14.5 cm) featuring the original digipak CDs “Framing Armageddon” and “The Crucible Of Man” as well as the original digipaks EPs “Overture Of The Wicked” and “I Walk Among You”. In addition, the boxset includes a bonus cardboard CD with one song from “Framing Armageddon” now sung by Matt Barlow and three previously unreleased live tracks from the Belgian Graspop Metal Meeting festival in 2008, also featuring Barlow on vocals. The boxset will come with a full-color A1 poster and a 12-page booklet with previously unseen photos and liner notes.

ANEW REVOLUTION ANNOUNCES “ECONOMIC STIMULUS TOUR”

ANEW REVILUTION

ANEW REVILUTION

ANEW REVOLUTION will be hitting the road on the “Economic Stimulus Tour” alongside Poughkeepsie, New York’s SUGAR RED DRIVE. “This tour was created as a way to give back to the cities we’re playing and their local economies. We’re going into these cities and venues and literally adding jobs. Whether it be by hiring local crew or promotion outlets, or just bringing people into the venue to in turn the spend some money to see a good show and maybe buy some merch.” says bassist Frank Salvaggio.

One of the main focuses of this tour is to create at least 2 real jobs the day of the show by hiring 2 part-time workers to help with load-in, set up, and local transportation for the bands. Salvaggio continues, “We’re also showing that even a modest touring band has to do whatever it takes to survive in these tough economic times.”

ANEW REVOLUTION also plan on keeping the ticket prices at a lower than average price of just $10 as well as donating 50% of the ticket proceeds to a local, not national, charitable cause. Be sure to visit www.myspace.com/anewrevolution and http://twitter.com/anewrevolution for more info. More dates will be announced soon

The album was produced by Ben Schigel, a musician, record producer and vocalist from the band SWITCHED who has produced for such bands as STEMM, DROWNING POOL, WALLS OF JERICHO, CHIMAIRA & many more. A brand new song called “Head Against The Wall” is streaming via ANEW REVOLUTION’S myspace page now [www.myspace.com/anewrevolution]. The band also just finished shooting a video for the same song in Austin, TX last week with famed director David Brodsky (GOD FORBID, THE RED CHORD, ALL THAT REMAINS, KITTIE).

Formed in Austin by Texas by singer/guitarist Joey Duenas, bassist Frank Salvaggio, drummer Rob Urbani in 2004, and later rounded out by Austin-area shredder Shaun Stockton on lead guitar, ANEW REVOLUTION stand by the promise in their name. Though they’ll happily recall the milestones set by their former bands – Duenas’ Ünloco, and Urbani and Salvaggio’s Slaves on Dope, they’ll also be the first to remind you of just what ANEW REVOLUTION means.

SLAYER, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT Announce New Dates For ‘American Carnage’ Tour

American Carnage Tour

American Carnage Tour

SLAYER and MEGADETH are thrilled to announce the new, confirmed routing for the “American Carnage” North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled “Canadian Carnage East” dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23. SLAYER will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the “American Carnage” leg in Albany, NY on August 11.

“American Carnage” will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, Oregon on September 4. TESTAMENT will be special guest on all shows. Tickets purchased for the “American Carnage” shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates.

Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the “American Carnage” itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.

The “American Carnage” tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to SLAYER‘s vocalist/bassist Tom Araya‘s ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a cervical radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an anterior cervical discectomy with fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.

“The doctors said that Tom‘s surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success,” said Rick Sales, longtime SLAYER manager. “He’s home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably.”

Shortly after the surgery, SLAYER‘s Kerry King received a text fromTom: “Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better.”

The “American Carnage” tour will mark the first time that SLAYER,MEGADETH and TESTAMENT will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic “Clash of the Titans” tour, making this truly a “must-see” event.

SLAYER recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in Europe, and MEGADETH and TESTAMENT are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the “American Carnage” itinerary.

WINDS OF PLAGUE Announces Details For NEVER SAY DIE! Headlining Tour

Winds of Plague - Never Say Die tour

Winds of Plague - Never Say Die tour

Los Angeles metallers WINDS OF PLAGUE continue their extensive worldwide touring schedule in support of “The Great Stone War” with another headlining trek, dubbed the Never Say Die! tour. This massive, month-long trek, which kicks off on January 23, also features Century Media labelmates DESPISED ICON alongside FOR TODAYSTRAY FROM THE PATH and THE WORLD WE KNEW.

Commented vocalist Johnny: “We have just passed the halfway mark on the ‘California Love’ tour and already the tour has proven to be a massive success, as well as a very memorable moment in WINDS OF PLAGUE history.

“This has been our first sole headliner, which is nerve-eracking in itself, but the WINDS OF PLAGUE soldiers have been strong in numbers and have been some of the most insane shows we have played to date. It’s been awesome to get back into some smaller clubs that we have played while we were coming up and re-visit our roots.

“This tour also marks the debut of keyboardist Alana Potocnik to the band. Alana‘s positive attitude and hungry work ethic is a breath of fresh air, with her talent and creative writing abilities new material will be nothing short of epic.

“With our return to Southern California for the December Decimation Fest still on the horizon, the ‘California Love’ tour will go down in our history as some of the best times of our lives and we thank our fans for making it all possible.

“We look forward to taking some time off for the holidays and then 2010 is the year of WINDS OF PLAGUE. It all starts with another headliner as we prepare for the Never Say Die! tour in January with the mightyDESPISED ICONFOR TODAY and STRAY FROM THE PATH. We promise you it will be a night to remember, so check out our MySpacepage and be sure to come out, get sweaty and party your ass off.”

Added DESPISED ICON vocalist Alex Erian: “We’ve played some of our favourite shows ever on the last two Never Say Die! tours in Europe and are stoked to be part of its first annual U.S. edition.

“We haven’t toured with WINDS OF PLAGUE in over two years already. It’ll be good to hang out and rock out with those dudes again!

“Can’t wait to be back in the U.S. See you guys soon!”

Marco Walzel of Avocado Booking commented: “We really wanted to create an exciting tour package; that is why we created and developed the Never Say Die! brand. We wanted a tour that could feature the most diverse and powerful bands from all over the world under one banner. Its focus has always been about the music, the bands and the lifestyle that comes hand in hand with the more aggressive side of the punk rock and metal spectrum. It’s never sought to lose touch with its core audience and we’ve always strived to give great value for money to some of the most mind-blowing packages that we could possibly put together.

“It’s been a big success for us, growing and growing in Europe over the past few years and we’re really excited at where Never Say Die! is heading, with the New Year giving way to its first overseas appearance in the USA.”

SLAYER, MEGADETH, Machine Head and Suicide Silence Announce ‘Canadian Carnage East’ Tour

Candian Carnage East

Candian Carnage East

Get ready for one of the most combustible tours of the fall — Canadian Carnage East — with co-headliners SLAYER and MEGADETH, two of the bands that defined the thrash/metal genre and have kept it alive and flourishing for decades. The five-date Canadian Carnage East kicks off on November 8 in Moncton, NB and wraps up in Toronto on November 13. The tour will feature MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE, and will see MEGADETH and SLAYER alternating the closing spot. Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

MEGADETH and SLAYER laid waste to four Canadian cities earlier in June when they joined up for the first Canadian Carnage, marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years.

Canadian Carnage East tour dates:

Nov. 08 – Moncton Coliseum, Moncton, NB
Nov. 09 – Halifax Metro Center, Halifax, NS
Nov. 11 – Bell Centre, Montreal, QC
Nov. 12 – Colisee Pepsi Arena, Quebec City, QC
Nov. 13 – Air Canada Centre, Toronto, ON

SLAYER will release its new album, “World Painted Blood”, in the U.S. on November 3 (one day earlier internationally) via American Recordings/Columbia Records.

There will be three different editions of “World Painted Blood” —a limited-edition CD with multiple CD covers, a deluxe edition CD/DVD, and a high-quality, 180-gram vinyl edition; specifics for all editions will be detailed shortly.

“World Painted Blood” was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. The CD was produced by Greg Fidelman, who’s spent time in the studio with METALLICATHE GOSSIPTHE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACYSLIPKNOT and others, and executive-produced by longtime SLAYER colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project.

MEGADETH‘s new album, “Endgame”, is now being streamed in its entirety on the band’s MySpace page.

Due on September 15 via Roadrunner Records“Endgame” was recorded at the band’s brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic’s Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

“Endgame” was helmed by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUSNEVERMOREARCH ENEMY,MACHINE HEAD).

SONIC SYNDICATE – ANNOUNCE NEW VOCALIST

After having multiple chart entries all over Europe with their latest album Love And Other Disasters, SONIC SYNDICATE directly attacked the world supporting NIGHTWISH on their US tour, IN FLAMES throughout Europe followed by a co-headlining tour with Swedish fellas and labelmates DEATHSTARS and more.

After an intense year of touring the band received news that singer Roland Johansson is calling it quits in late April ’09.

Without delay, the band and management contacted Bandit Rock Radio, Stockholm to announce the news and team up for what has become something more then they could ever have hoped for.

Thousands of submissions, countless auditions, hours of horror and an amazing partnership with Bandit Rock, SONIC SYNDICATE would like to introduce to you their new singer, 23-year-old, Mr Nathan J Biggs (formerly of THE HOLLOW EARTH THEORY), Born 1986. Shrewsbury, UK as the replacement for Roland Johansson.

“People from all over the world sent in demos when we announced that we were looking for a new vocalist and we narrowed them down to about 20 that we found particularly interesting,”
guitarist Roger Sjunnesson told Hallands Nyheter. “We then auditioned more than a dozen candidates in Falkenberg [Sweden] and we went out and partied together.”

He added, “Personal chemistry was absolutely the most important factor in our decision. You have to be able to spend time with one another.”

Commented the band: “The search is over and the band is complete once again! Nathan is probably the best thing that ever happened to SONIC SYNDICATE since the discovery of distorted guitars and the work we’ve done together is by far the best we’ve achieved to date! He’s like the long-lost brother we never had and has also fused the rest of us together more closely than before. The rebellion has begun!”

Nathan added: “Something incredible and totally unpredictable has happened here! Not only have I managed to land myself in one the most promising bands in the world, I’ve gained a new family too. The energy between SONIC and I is electric and it’s producing some breathtaking results. We’re taking it to the next level. Don’t blink or you’ll be running to catch up with us!”

The new
SONIC SYNDICATE lineup recently entered Abyss studios in Parlby, outside Ludvika, Sweden to record two new songs — “Burn This City” and “Rebellion In Nightmare Land.”

Burn This City” is said to be the more commercial track of the two that is suitable for the radio, while “Rebellion” has been described by Roger as a more uptempo song that the group’s longtime fans can instantly identify with. Both tracks will appear on a new EP, Rebellion, which will be released on November 6, 2009 as part of an all-in-one-package with the group’s latest album, Love And Other Disasters.

The cover artwork for the Rebellion EP will be created by Gustavo Savez of Abstrata art.

A new SONIC SYNDICATE album is tentatively due in April/May 2010.

SONIC SYNDICATE, whose sound has thus far revolved around the dual vocals of Richard Sjunnesson and Roland Johansson, announced in March ’09 that Roland (who was responsible for the clean/melodic singing in the group) had decided to leave the band “due to personal reasons beyond our control.”

Roland will play his final show with SONIC SYNDICATE on August 29, 2009 at the Geuzenpop festival in Enschede, Holland.
