GOJIRA To Record EP For Whales
Gojira
French extreme/progressive metallers GOJIRA are writing material for an EP they’ll record this summer, the proceeds from which will benefitSea Shepherd, an anti-whaling organization.
“We’ll record and produce five songs that [we] will sell on our web site without going through traditional ways,” guitarist/vocalist Joe Duplantiersays in a new video interview (see below). “The benefits of sales will be donated to Sea Shepherd. There will be guests from the international metal scene [on the record].”
GOJIRA is currently supporting METALLICA on a short European tour. Also on the bill is FEAR FACTORY.
“Terra Incognita”, the debut album from GOJIRA, was re-released as a limited-edition digipack with three bonus tracks on August 24, 2009 in Europe (October 15, 2009 in North America).
Universal Music Publishing has released a 135-page tablature book forGOJIRA‘s latest album, “The Way Of All Flesh”, which can be ordered from the band’s webshop.
Since making its American debut alongside CHILDREN OF BODOM andAMON AMARTH in late 2006 in support of their landmark album “From Mars To Sirius”, GOJIRA has become one of metal’s most acclaimed and admired acts. REST IN DISGRACE: Debut EP Out Now
Brazilian death/dark metal band REST IN DISGRACE released its seven-track debut EP, “As Beauty Springs From Mud…”, in March. According to a press release, the CD contains “heavy riffs, remarkable vocals and lyrical influences coming from buddhism, hindu mythology and pessimistic philosophies, yet some of the contemporary anguish and vanity. ”

BENEATH THE MASSACRE Recording New EP To Be Released This Fall
Beneath The Massacre
Montreal death metal quartet BENEATH THE MASSACRE is currently recording a new EP for a fall release.
The band will take part in the European edition of the “Thrash And Burn Tour”, which is scheduled to kick off on April 9 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Also scheduled to appear are DYING FETUS, ORIGIN, MAN MUST DIEand REVOCATION.

BENEATH To Release ‘Hollow Empty Void’ EP In February

Icelandic death metallers BENEATH will release their debut EP, “Hollow Empty Void”, on February 13 via Mordbrann Musikk. The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered by guitarist Johann Ingi Sigurdsson atFossland Studio in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland.
According to a press release, “Hollow Empty Void” paints a picture of apocalypse and decay through four hard hitting death metal slabs with a technical edge. Included on the CD are two bonus live tracks, showcasing the live talents of the group. Certain to appeal to fans of luminaries such as BEHEMOTH, HATE ETERNAL, PSYCROPTIC, NILE andDECAPITATED, BENEATH is poised to conquer far beyond their homeland.

OBITUARY: ‘Left To Die’ EP Released On Limited-Edition Hand-Splattered Bloody Vinyl

Night Of The Vinyl Dead Records has released a limited-edition vinyl version of OBITUARY‘s “Left To Die” EP. Only 500 hand-numbered copies were made available on hand-splattered bloody vinyl, including an insert.
“Left to Die” contains four songs: two new originals (“Forces Realign”and “Left To Die”), a 2008 studio recording of “Slowly We Rot”, and a cover of “Dethroned Emperor” by CELTIC FROST.

“Darkest Day”, the new album from OBITUARY, sold around 1,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according toNielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 32 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
“Darkest Day” was released on June 30 via Candlelight Records.
The band once again worked with artist Andreas Marschall, who created the art for “The End Complete”, “Frozen in Time”, and the group’s last record, “Xecutioner’s Return”.
