Check out photos of the show at JayValena.com.
MEGADETH kicked off its “Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour” on March 1 at the Knitting Factory in Spokane, Washington. Also appearing on the bill were TESTAMENT and EXODUS.
MEGADETH recently finished filming a video for the song “The Right To Go Insane” in South El Monte, California. According to bassist David Ellefson, the clip “has a very twisted and demented storyline. It was much different than what I thought it would be. It has no band footage at all. It’s a very twisted and intriguing story.”
“The Right To Go Insane” comes off MEGADETH‘s latest album,“Endgame”, which was recorded at Vic’s Garage, the band’s brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California. The CD was helmed byMEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap(EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).
“Endgame” has sold 125,000 copies in the United States since its September 2009 release, according to Neilsen SoundScan.

MEGADETH Filming ‘The Right To Go Insane’ Video
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has revealed in his latest TheLiveLine “audioblog” that the band has commenced filming a video for the song “The Right To Go Insane”. He says, “I’m here at the video shoot [on Thursday, February 25] in South El Monte. We just got done filming some footage of an M60 Abrams tank, which was fantastic, and the cops are here, so it could get pretty hairy with this video shoot. I don’t know what’s going to happen from this point forward, but, man, we’re excited. David Ellefson is here; it’s the first video as a band again and we’re doing ‘The Right To Go Insane’.”

SLAYER, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT Announce New Dates For ‘American Carnage’ Tour
SLAYER and MEGADETH are thrilled to announce the new, confirmed routing for the “American Carnage” North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled “Canadian Carnage East” dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23. SLAYER will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the “American Carnage” leg in Albany, NY on August 11.
“American Carnage” will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, Oregon on September 4. TESTAMENT will be special guest on all shows. Tickets purchased for the “American Carnage” shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates.
Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the “American Carnage” itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.
The “American Carnage” tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to SLAYER‘s vocalist/bassist Tom Araya‘s ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a cervical radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an anterior cervical discectomy with fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.
“The doctors said that Tom‘s surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success,” said Rick Sales, longtime SLAYER manager. “He’s home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably.”
Shortly after the surgery, SLAYER‘s Kerry King received a text fromTom: “Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better.”
The “American Carnage” tour will mark the first time that SLAYER,MEGADETH and TESTAMENT will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic “Clash of the Titans” tour, making this truly a “must-see” event.
SLAYER recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in Europe, and MEGADETH and TESTAMENT are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the “American Carnage” itinerary.

MEGADETH’s DAVE MUSTAINE Checks In From ‘Rust In Peace’ Tour Rehearsals
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:
“‘Rust In Peace’ [tour] rehearsals are going pretty good. We are sorting out some new gear, organizing the stuff we’ve got, hot-rodding everything, and deciding on several aspects of the show. Of course we realize that ‘Rust In Peace’ was approximately 45 minutes long, and our show is longer than that, that we are going to need to keep several other classics in the show as well as our favorite new songs too.
“So far we went over ‘Holy Wars’, ‘Hangar 18′, ‘Tornado of Souls’,‘Take No Prisoners’, ‘Five Magics’, and ‘Poison Was The Cure’. I am letting a DAT run in the background for serendipity in case I have a moment where I come up with something new and it doesn’t slip away if I don’t record it.
“It may sound strange to hear that we are going over the songs that we already know, but this is a pivotal record in heavy metal and it didn’t become that way by playing what we think is right. We have all been under the microscope and we have found several things that we have improved on, as well as learning the new ‘Rust In Peace’ songs, and I can’t stop smiling while we are playing.
“It’s kinda cool too to be brainwashing myself with ‘Rust In Peace’before we get ready to go into the studio for our ultimate Roadrunnerrecord. I am not going to go on record and say anything yet until I can sing over these songs, but for now, watching Chris [Broderick] play these solos is mind-blowing. It’s just like Marty [Friedman] was here again.
“When you guys ‘see’ Shawn [Drover, drums] you are going to be blown away, as well as how ferociously he is playing right now.
“Speaking of Shawn, we are getting ready to go with James [Lomenzo, bass] up to the Grammys today, and do some pre-lim stuff. Shawn and I wrote ‘Head Crusher’, and the funny thing is that this is my eight nomination and I have never won. I think what’s the use going, but then I see Shawn‘s enthusiasm for his first time ever being nominated, and I am actually excited for our chances and for him. Of course we are nominated in a category with formidable competition, and they are all of our friends. I actually joked with Kerry King and said, ‘Can ya let us win it this year?’
“Honestly, I don’t think I was ready to fully appreciate what this all means the previous times. I know that we may win, and that we may not. I know what it feels like to lose, and I would like to know what it feels like to win. I mean, I would really be excited if Shawn and I won, but either way we have been recognized by our peers to be one of the best and I am proud to be back in the finals for the Grammys.”
